Teddy in the Cupboard
by J.W.
Once upon a time, there was a kid named Jack. One day, Jack’s dad found
an odd cupboard at the dump and he brought it home. There was a thief
going around town, so Jack hid his favorite teddy bear in it and locked
the door. The next morning, Jack awoke to see a furry face standing in
his. “Hello.” it said. Jack was so startled he gave out a shriek. Then
he realized whom the face belonged to. “Teddy?” he asked in disbelief.
“Yep.” Said Teddy “That new cupboard of yours brought me to life.”
Teddy told Jack that the cupboard was a portal to the world of his
imagination. “A since worried that there’s someone out to get you,”
Teddy said “in our world, there is someone out to get you.” Jack
thought awhile and decided that he should go help out, even if it meant
risking his life. It was his imagination, his responsibility. Jack
managed to squeeze himself in the cupboard and Teddy locked it by
sticking his paw in the keyhole. Suddenly, Jack found himself in large
field wearing his Shiftor outfit. Shiftor was a super stretching
shape-shifting superhero that Jack had created. Teddy was wearing his
Speed Bear outfit and was running circles around Jack. “Am I really
Shiftor in this world?” Jack asked. “Uh-huh.” Said Teddy “Everything
you imagine in this world becomes reality.” Suddenly a giant robot
appeared over the horizon. “AH-HAH!” It said in a deafening voice “I
HAVE FINNALLY FOUND YOU, SO NOW I SHALL DESTROY YOU!” It began blasting
at them, but with their new super powers, Jack and teddy were able to
dodge them. Can’t keep dodging forever Jack thought. Then he noticed a
drain cover lying on the ground. “Teddy!” he yelled as he stretched
himself out between two lampposts “Throw that drain cover at me as hard
as you can!” “Why?!” “Just do it!!!” So Teddy threw the drain cover
with all his might, it bounced off Jack and landed square in the
robot’s chest, causing it to short circuit and explode! Then out popped
an old man who shouted, “Curse you Shiftor! You have destroyed my
robot, so I will destroy you!” “Oh no you don’t!” Jack said,
“This is My imagination, so what I think goes and I think you’re gone!”
“NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” He screamed as he was vaporized into a thousand
tiny pieces that floated off into the distance. “Well Jack,” Teddy
said, “it’s time for you to go.” “ Wait, aren’t you coming too?” He
asked. “Nope.” Said Teddy, “I’ve got to stay and keep the place safe,
but we’ll see each other again.” So Jack went home, and Teddy came to
visit every month.
