Priscilla Mullins by H.D.

I am Priscilla Mullins, I would like to tell you about my
life. I was born in Surry, England around 1602. I had a
mother and father named Alice and William Mullins. I also had a
little brother named Joseph as well as an older brother and
sister. I sailed across the ocean on the Mayflower. It was
really hard having my family die during the first hard winter. We
left my older siblings in England. I wanted to be like William
Bradford. I wanted this because he kept the crew from turning
around. He left England because he was willing to fight for what
he believed. He struggled when his wife died. So he
understood other’s difficult times.
I have done so many good things in my lifetime. I was involved in
starting a settlement, raising 10 children, and helping my husband farm
a 100acre grant of farmland in Duxbury where we eventually moved.
I also helped watch the younger children. My most important
contributions probably were taking care of the sick. Also I
helped to plant food. I also helped cook, clean, and sew for the
family I was living with. Taking care of the ill I saved some
lives. Really doing whatever needed to be done helped
everybody. Well I was persistent. When my family died, I
didn’t give up. I was also brave, when I went across the
Mayflower. I had experiences in England, where there were more
people, but less freedom. I had experiences in Plymouth where you
could worship as you chose to. I had experiences in Duxbury where
we eventually moved. I consider my 10 kids my greatest
success. My greatest problem was having my family die during that
first hard winter. Then I had to move in with another
family. My message would be to work hard and to never, ever, give
up.
