Ada
Lovelace by A.S.
I am
Augusta Ada Byron King, Countess of Lovelace. You can just call me Ada
Lovelace. You see I was born as Augusta Ada Byron. Then I
married William King. Later we became Earl and Countess of
Lovelace. My dad was Lord Byron, the famous poet. Some of
my dad’s character traits were creativity, laid back, and taking things
as they came. He was a romantic. My mom on the other hand
was strict, cold, and intelligent. She studied math and science.
My parents were only married for a year. They got separated when
I was only five weeks old. I never knew my father. My model was
Charles Babbage because he was very smart and had interesting
ideas. He made the Difference Engine, one of the first
calculators. He was now making an Analytical Engine, the first
computer.
I, like my mom, studied math & science, but
with my creativity I came up with what I call poetical science.
This ability of mine helped me program the Analytical Engine.
This made me the first computer programmer. I think making the
Analytical Engine understandable was very important. Babbage
presented his computer very unclearly, and I explained better, and
added notes, visualizations, drawings, and descriptions. This
made life better for other people. I’m creative &
intelligent. With my creativity, I designed, but didn’t build, a
flying machine when I was 13. My biggest problems were my health
& my family. I’ve told you about my family, but my health
wasn’t good either. At 14 I got the measles. Many times in
my life I had severe headaches & I was often ill. I
eventually died of cancer when I was 36. Remember; always be
creative & think outside the box.
