Robert Alfred Cheesbur-Indentured Servant, Carpenter

   Once upon a time I lived in England. Let me introduce myself. I am Robert Alfred Che’burg. I was poor and I had a large debt to pay off. I went to my friend Thomas Jones Jr. He agreed to pay off my debt if I worked for him for 3 years or more. I told him O.K. On the boat my wife got seasick. When we made it to Maryland I worked for my friend, but because my family was poor we did not have enough food. That is why my wife, Mary, decided to steal from John Wilton, our neighbor. The bad thing is that he caught her and she was hanged. In later years my children, Jill and Ben became farmers and we had enough food. When I became free I became a carpenter and had lots of money and my family lived happily.
